BOXCAR SPEAKEASY

BOXCAR SPEAKEASY

BOXCAR SPEAKEASY

A little jaunty, a little sweaty, mostly legal, Boxcar Speakeasy makes hot jazz music in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Drawing inspiration from the founding fathers of jazz; Kid Ory, Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and mixing it with later artists like Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and Pete Fountain, they make their own sound. Their live performances feel less like Preservation Hall concerts, but more like CBGB gigs. The quintet has members from punk and metal bands, as well as community orchestras and old time jam spots. Danny Price leads the band with tenor banjo and joins bassist Pat Jarrett in the rhythm section. Bruce Fox plays the big trombone, Carter Green is on the archtop electric guitar and Glendon Gill blows the clarinet. Put on your dancing shoes, come on out and have a drink with these guys.

THE HOT MAMAS

THE HOT MAMAS

THE HOT MAMAS

Like a junkyard bathtub full of homemade instruments on sparkly pink roller skates, The Hot Mamas combine grit, humor, harmonies and sass as their vehicle taking audiences on madcap adventures. Their writing styles range from jazzy to pop, from funky punk to murder ballads, soulful blues to drinkin’-when-you’re-sad country tunes. The Hot Mamas are quirky, fun, profound and sincere and not to be missed!
